A Message from President Deb Feinberg, CAP

Hello and welcome to the Harrisburg Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professional’s© website.

As I begin my year as President of the Harrisburg Chapter I’d like to say THANK YOU to all those members who have served in this position in the past.  The Harrisburg Chapter has been in existence since 1946 and that is due in large part to the PASSION of the past leaders and members.  I’d also like to say THANK YOU to the newer members of the chapter.  If we open our minds we can learn so much from you – you have fresh new ideas and insights and you are to be applauded for taking a significant step in helping to further your career by joining a professional association.

I am very pleased to have both experienced members and newer members on the Board this year.  The experienced members can help mentor the newer members; members who are taking a step outside of their comfort zone – adding PURPOSE to their membership – by chairing or co-chairing a committee.  This commitment to the organization is to be applauded and I thank you all for your support.

My focus for the coming year, in addition to helping the chapter once again attain the Chapter of Excellence designation, will be education, professional outreach, and community service.  My charge to the program committee is to make sure that as many programs as possible offer education that is relevant to all of us in addition to offering recertification points for those that are certified.  Professional outreach and community service are, in my mind, very closely related.  Every community service project or trade show or presentation we are involved in is an opportunity to advance the IAAP name and the possibility to grow our chapter.

In order to achieve the goals of Chapter of Excellence and chapter growth, the entire Chapter needs to work together – this Chapter is a conglomeration of many different parts working together toward the same end.  I hope that you will choose this year to become more involved in your Chapter and your Division.  Whatever committee you serve on – give it your all to make it the best committee it can be.  This is OUR chapter and if we don’t ALL take responsibility for it, it will fail.

The goal of the International Association of Administrative Professional’s is to work toward enhancing the success of career-minded administrative professionals by providing opportunities for growth through education, community building and leadership development.  Working together as a chapter we can achieve that goal.

If you are not currently a member of IAAP and/or the Harrisburg Chapter, I hope that you take a few moments to explore our website.  If you have questions or are unsure about joining IAAP, I’d like to invite you to be my guest at a chapter meeting.  We meet on the third Monday of every month (with the exception of April, July, and August) at the Holiday Inn® Harrisburg - East, 4751 Lindle Road, Harrisburg.  If you have questions or need further information, please feel free to contact me at deb.s.feinberg@gmail.com – I’d love to chat with you.

Make this year the year you find your Passion & Purpose – your career is in your hands.
